My pop culture icon is the popular ski-fi series Star Wars. The artifacts that I am trying to rhetorically analyze are #1) the movies of course, I am analyzing through the originals and the subsequent trilogies that have been used to broaden the Star Wars audience to include multiple generations of fans. 2) I plan on using the countless amounts of merchandise that has been made throughout the years, including how it has changed when Disney took over the Star Wars property. This would include describing the increased availability for Star Wars gear and the increase of options for Star Wars fans of all ages. 3) I plan on using the Star Wars theme park as my third artifact. Since Disney purchased the property they now how the rights to create a whole galaxy for fans to explore. This is a costly margin but will certainly pay for itself in no time. This is a new venue for families of Star Wars lovers to experience their favorite characters and live the movies that they adore watching. Not to mention all of the exclusives which will drive people to want to go all the way out to California or Florida just to experience for themselves. Adding this to Disney's array of Star Wars options makes it more real and is a real factor for major fans to come and see their fantasy world come to life. I plan on starting with the original content (the movies) and progress out to the newer Star Wars products (listed out like I did above^). I have enjoyed this because I get to write something I am passionate about but I have had difficulties doing the rhetorical analysis of each artifacts despite knowing so much about the topic.
