Morgan, Kayla, and Bekah had all been best friends since senior year. They all did everything together, they would sit together at lunch everyday and spent the night at each other's houses every weekend. They even dreamt of going to the same college together. Once senior year rolled around and college acceptance letters came in they found out their dreams would indeed come true, they would all be going to Florida State together in the Fall. They had planned out a three person dorm so they could all live together, color coordinating the room and adding in their own details to each corner of it.
Freshman year didn't go how they expected. Once they got to school they began to meet people, but for some reason Bekah was the best at it. Morgan and Kayla would spend more time in the dorm just hanging out and having movie nights while Bekah would be out with her new friends. They still were together most of the time, their favorite day of the week was Sunday because they would all sit in the same booth in the corner of the Sweet Shop and talk for hours and hours. Morgan and Kayla were feeling homesick and really wanted to take a weekend to go back home to see their families, when asking Bekah if she wanted to join she scoffed at them asking, "If you're not having fun here and wanting to be here all the time why don't you just go back home and take classes there?". A pit in their stomachs formed. They realized they were losing their best friend.
Sophomore year was when it really got bad. Bekah got an apartment with her other friends and left Morgan and Kayla in the dust. She was apart of a sorority now, which was fine with Morgan and Kayla except that meant they would only get to see Bekah every now and then. Although they were all busy, they were still friends. They planned that every 2 weeks they would go to the Sweet Shop for lunch, sitting in their same booth. About half way through the first semester on a Wednesday night around 3 am Morgan got a call that woke her up in the middle of the night. Her Dad had been in a fatal car accident, killed by a drunk driver. She began sobbing, Kayla ran in from the other room. She held her and cried with her. They called Bekah. No answer. They continued to call, eventually a slurred, "hello?" came from an obviously anebriated Bekah. They hung up the phone out of anger and disappointment. The days that followed were filled with silence. Morgan planned to go home for the funeral, Kayla went with her to support her but Bekah stayed. She had abandoned her friends when they needed her the most.
Morgan and Kayla realized they weren't a priority to Bekah so they stopped inviting her to their biweekly trips to the Sweet Shop. Months would go by without either of them talking to Bekah. They realized that she had become a different person, the Bekah they were friends with was left on that graduation stage back in high school. She would never leave there. With a heavy heart, to really prove to themselves in was over, they crossed her name off of their booth in the corner of the Sweet Shop.
